Les Nemethy – Managing Director
 

Mr. Nemethy has more than 20 years of experience in M&A, investment banking, Private Sector Development and law.

As an Undersecretary of State for Hungary, Mr. Nemethy managed all transactions occurring in the Hungarian Privatization Agency. He was responsible for a staff of 150 and approximately $1 billion of annual privatization revenues.

As a Senior Private Sector Development Specialist at the World Bank, Mr. Nemethy worked throughout the world developing privatization programs, reforming regulatory structures and attracting investment capital to sectors including heavy industry, mining, energy, telecommunications, transportation, and capital markets.

In addition to his privatization experience, Mr. Nemethy also served as CEO of the Hungarian telecom, Matel, Ltd., the second telecom operator of Hungary.

In 1999 Mr. Nemethy founded Euro-Phoenix and has since managed financial transactions in nearly every Central and Eastern European country.

Mr. Nemethy holds degrees in Law, Economics, Political Science and a Masters of Business Administration from leading universities in Canada. Mr. Nemethy recently completed a term as President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hungary, and has written and spoken extensively on the subject of national competitiveness. He speaks English, Hungarian, French, Russian, German and Spanish.

 
Béla Török – Chief Operating Officer
 

Mr. Torok has served as CEO of several major financial institutions, including a unit of HSBC(Beneficial Financial Corporation), and the Hungarian operations of Santander.

Mr. Torok is a native of Budapest and studied law at the ELTE University. He began his career in the international legal affairs department of the National Bank of Hungary. At the onset of Hungary’s political and economic transformation in the early 1990s, he went into public service as Deputy State Secretary in the Prime Minister’s office and then as State Secretary for the Ministry of Finance. In these roles, Mr. Torok, had responsibility for attracting foreign investment to Hungary as well as overseeing the international departments of the Finance Ministry.

In his current role as COO, Mr. Torok brings to Euro-Phoenix his expertise in running the daily activities of a leading financial firm. Mr. Torok is responsible for all operational, administrative, business development and financial matters of the firm. He is a speaker of Hungarian, English and German.

 
Jacques Peyrusaubes - Director
 

Mr. Peyrusaubes is a renowned expert in the energy sector, with special emphasis on the rapidly developing markets of Central and Eastern Europe. He has held leadership positions in several electric and gas utilities. After serving as Deputy Manager of the General Secretary’s Office of Electricite de France (EDF) and Gas de France (GDF), Mr. Peyrusaubes became the General Representative of EDF in Hungary in 1996. During this time he was also the chairman of the Board of Directors of the EDF subsidiary EDASZ.

From 1997 to 2001, he served as Chairman of the French-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. During his tenure at Euro-Phoenix, Mr. Peyrusaubes has advised governments on energy market liberalization and privatization. He has personally prepared companies for all stages of the privatization process.

Mr. Peyrusaubes is a graduate of the Ecole des Mines de Saint-Etienne, France and resides in Budapest.

 
Martin Slough - Director, International Financial Institutions
 

Mr. Slough has 37 years’ experience in international banking and finance. He spent 21 years as a corporate banking executive for Lloyds TSB Bank, taking leadership roles in its Japanese and Brazilian operations. More recently he spent 16 years in Private and Financial Sector Development at the World Bank.

At that institution, Mr. Slough concentrated his efforts on the financial services sector in Central and Eastern Europe. He led teams in auditing, performing due diligence, and restructuring banks that were candidates for privatization, and also provided policy advice in financial sector restructuring to client governments. Additionally, he managed programs aimed at improving the business environment for foreign direct investment and the establishment private companies in client countries.

Mr. Slough is primarily responsible for marketing the services of Euro-Phoenix to international donor institutions and he oversees the firm’s Financial Sector Development practice. He is also involved in several Private Sector Development initiatives. Mr. Slough is based in Washington, D.C.

 
Andras Hanak – General Counsel
 

Mr. Hanak has considerable privatization and regulatory experience in Central and Eastern Europe. In his 17 years in the region, he has served as legal counsel at Squires, Sanders & Dempsey in Hungary and also held the position of Managing Lawyer at Dewey Ballantine in Budapest.

He has extensive expertise in project finance including the drafting and negotiating of contracts on both the buy side and sell side of transactions. Mr. Hanak has advised governments on the restructuring of major industries with specific emphasis on the telecommunications sector, and has provided legal insight on multiple tender processes throughout the region. Mr. Hanak holds a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He speaks English, Hungarian and French and currently resides in Budapest.
